What is the Ultimate Oldies Show?
The Ultimate Oldies Show is a weekly, thematic ride
with the music, artists, producers, musicians and cultural
touchstones of the late 1940’s through the early 1970’s.
Stories, anecdotes, chart information, and trivia complement
the recognized, the long forgotten and the never heard
rock'n'soul songs of the incredible infancy of that
memorable period.
Each show:
- Highlights one of the many influential,
significant or interesting artists, producers,
musicians, or writers in the development and
promotion of rock’n’roll. Among the many artists
featured so are: Louis Jordan, Bob Wills, Chuck
Berry, Ray Charles and Johnny Cash.
- Presents engaging, interesting and fun themes.
Themes have included black-and-white songs and
little-known originals.
- Specific styles of music, including a monthly
doo wop show, surf, or psychedelic protest
songs.
Host Mike Ficher
embellishes the Ultimate Oldies Show with a rich texture of entertaining
stories, anecdotes and trivia about the performers and songs to craft
an engaging and unique radio experience!
